Rhodium plated base metal with translucent enameling and round pave stones. Stamped with the letter "E" on both birds. Ref: Brunialti's Tribute to America: pg 25 "The best of (Boucher) his productions were the collections of 1940, 1941 & 1942 which include extraordinary items made with enamel and/or rhinestones, amongst them are 'movable' pieces from 1940, the 1940-41 birds, animal range, and also plant and flower subjects of the same years". "Boucher, from this period, were "enamel-washed" -- that is, painted with a translucent enamel that allowed the silvertone metal to shine through. This produced a delicate metallic, almost pearly effect", Ref: Rhinestone Rainbow. Pave rhinestones show age wear. Enamel is in excellent original condition. Very rare brooch.
